The makers of the Malayalam film Uyare recently released a video that shows how much of hard work its lead actor Parvathy had put in to play the role of an acid attack survivor. She had to undergo hours-long prosthetic make-up sessions to get her to look the part. And that is not all. Parvathy also visited the Sheroes Hangout, a café run by the acid attack survivors for their community. This had greatly helped the actor to bring out the best before the camera.

The video shows Parvathy patiently lying down on a cot as make-up artists from the Dirty Hands Studio in Bengaluru work on her face. One of the artists Zuby had earlier said in an interview to TNM about how Parvathy made it easier for them by sitting patiently for three to four hours for the make-up to set.

“Parvathy was the one who would communicate between the director and me. I’d watch her give inputs. When an actor is so helpful, our job becomes easier. I would any day do another movie with her,” Zuby says.

Uyare is directed by Manu Ashok, an erstwhile associate of the late filmmaker Rajesh Pillai and scripted by ace writers Bobby and Sanjay. The film was bankrolled by Shegna, Sherga and Shenuga, daughters of producer PV Gangadharan, under the banner Grihalakshmi Films. The film that showed the dreams of a young girl to be a pilot and her comeback to life after the acid attack has been much lauded. Actors Asif Ali and Tovino Thomas acted opposite Parvathy in the film.

Kerala Health Minister KK Shailaja, who felt that the felt gives out such a positive message, made arrangements with the Social Justice Department to have a screening in Thiruvananthapuram for children from government homes. The screening was attended by Parvathy, who also interacted with the children.
