All dues taken for the Tamil movie, Uttama Villain starring Kamal Hassan will be settled before its release on May 1.
A loan of Rs. 2 crore was provided to the producers of the film along with certain conditions. One of the conditions was that the copyright and distribution of the film be retained with M/s Thangam Cinemas if the amount due was not returned before the film’s release, reported The Hindu.
Thangam cinemas had moved the High Court stating that the movie’s producers N Lingusamy and N Subash Chandra Bose had obtained money from him along with a mutual agreement that the distribution rights for Chengalpattu would be given to them. However, according to reports, distribution rights were given to Eros International Media Limited.Â
It was when a cheque issued by the producers of the film bounced that M/s Thangam Cinemas of Valasaravakkam submitted a suit directing the producers to pay up along with interest.
The counsel representing M/s Thirrupathi Brothers Film Media Limited and its Managing Director, N Lingusamy then agreed to settle the loan before April 28.
