Atleast 16 MLAs backing AIADMK Deputy General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran have checked out of a resort in Puducherry and moved to Coorg in Karnataka. This move came just hours after senior legislator STK Jakkaiyan returned to the camp of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

According to reports, Jakkaiyan had demanded that Dhinakaran give him the post of headquarters secretary or presidium chairman. He however later decided to join the EPS faction.

"He told me even in the morning that he was being threatened. It is quite natural that some get jittery upon being threatened, but not everyone,“ Dhinakaran told ToI.

Jakkaiyan, who is the Cumbum MLA met speaker P Dhanapal and some EPS group leaders, publicly announcing that he had shifted allegiance to the CM. "I was part of the delegation which withdrew support to the chief minister. But, I came to know the DMK is trying to use the division within AIADMK to topple the government. This government was formed by Amma, who wanted the party to keep a firm hold on the government reins," he told the media.

“It is only the chief minister who has the majority of MLAs. There will always be some differing minority voices. But, everyone should speak in one voice for the sake of the party," he added.
