Alleging that party leader D Srinivas was working against the party’s interest, TRS MPs and MLAs led by Nizamabad MP K Kavitha on Wednesday wrote a letter to Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao to take disciplinary action against him.

In the four-page letter, the MLAs and MPs accused Srinivas, a former Congress leader, of creating several factions in Nizamabad and sabotaging the party from within. Calling him an ‘opportunist’ for inducting his son, Aravind, into the BJP, they accused him of sabotaging the party to ensure his son’s elevation.

The letter reads, “While his son is abusing the TRS MLAs and MPs in Nizamabad, rather than condemning him, Srinivas is standing by him. Exhibiting his opportunistic nature, he has recently been in talks with the Congress high command to join them and desert the TRS.”

“As he did not respect your integrity and is resorting to betrayal, do not wait and watch, instead take immediate disciplinary action against him,” the letter goes on to say.

Speaking to the media, Kavitha said that after the Congress had humiliated D Srinivas by denying him an MLC seat, the TRS chief had welcomed him into the party, as he had been working for the public for many years.

“After joining the party, he was immediately given a cabinet post and chosen as the political advisor. Soon our party president also chose D Srinivas as the party’s Rajya Sabha candidate and elected him as the MP. However, for the past 6-7 months, a family member of D Srinivas joined another party, which he openly endorsed,” Kavitha alleged.

“Party workers have brought to our notice many times that D Srinivas has been asking the cadre to work for another party. If he cannot control his family issues, the party will suffer in the future,” she claimed.

D Srinivas is a senior politician from Nizamabad. He was previously the president of the then Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee. He quit the party and joined the TRS in 2015, alleging that the Congress had sidelined him.

D Srinivas’ son D Aravind who joined the BJP in September last year, has been giving Kavitha  a tough fight in the constituency by constantly criticising the TRS and reaching out to the public through his padayatra. In March, he began a 10-day yatra in the district, demanding that the government reopen the Nizam sugar factory.
