Taking into account a large number of devotees expected to throng the Golconda fort on Sunday for the annual Bonalu festival, the Hyderabad City Traffic Police on Sunday released a list of localities that in all likelihood could face traffic congestions on Sunday.

The Bonalu or Goddess Mahankali Bonalu is an annual Hindu festival celebrated in many parts of Telangana. It commences on July 17 and ends on August 7. In Hyderabad, the celebration is held at the Golkonda fort, and thousands of people are expected to attend.

In a social media post, the police have requested commuters who use these routes for daily commutes to try and avoid them between 8 am to 8 pm on Sunday.

Learning from past experiences, the city police expect a lot of the devotees coming in from neighbouring villages and districts to arrive in vehicles, thus adding to the traffic in the locality. In order to avoid major congestions, the traffic police have identified parking places in the Golconda vicinity for the devotees.

Traffic is expected to remain congested on routes along the Ramdevguda to Golconda Fort (via) Makkai Darwaza, Langar houz to Golconda Fort (via) Fathe Darwaza and Seven Tombs, Golconda to Golconda Fort (via) Banjara Darwaza.

The devotees coming on two-wheelers from Masab Tank, Mehdipatnam, Moghal Nala side are requested to proceed to Fathe Darwaza via Langar houz and they can park their vehicles in HUDA park, whereas four-wheelers can proceed to Makkai Darwaza via Ramdevguda and can park their vehicles near Paltan Ashoor khana.

The devotees coming to Golconda Fort from Seven Tombs side (Banjara Darwaza) via Shaikpet Nala and Toli Chowki are requested to park their vehicles inside the Priyadarshini School, Bus stop, area hospital at Golconda fort and Owaisi ground. Apart from above parking places, free parking is being provided at Hyderabad Golf Club, Jamali Darwaja and people can park their vehicles in the Hockey/Football ground near Golconda PS.

The devotees coming to Golconda Fort from Neknampur, Narsingi and Himayat Sagar side are requested to park their vehicles on the road from Ramdevguda to Paltan Shoorkhana after Makkai Darwaza.

The city traffic police have requested commuters to co-operate with traffic police by parking their vehicles in the above-designated places only.
