Tovino Thomas, who is predominantly seen in Malayalam movies, has been bagging some prestigious projects in Tamil as well. The star inked a deal to star in the sequel to Maari and will be seen playing the antagonist in it. According to the film’s director, all scenes involving Tovino have been completed.

Updating his followers about the film’s status, Maari 2 director Balaji Mohan recently tweeted: “Done with @Actor_Krishna & @ttovino’s portions in #Maari2! Been great working with both these talented super professional actors! Last leg of shooting left. One more schedule to go for completion.”

Maari, which hit the silver screens in 2015, was a big hit, following which its hero Dhanush agreed to do a sequel with the same director. The shooting of Maari 2 began this year with plans to release the film later this year.

Reports indicate that the team is gearing up to complete the final schedule, which will reportedly be done soon. It may be mentioned here that Dhanush was injured on the sets while the climax portions were being shot. Owing to this, the shooting has been delayed, we hear from sources.

Maari 2 is bankrolled by Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films. While Dhanush plays the male lead, Sai Pallavi will be his heroine. The stars cast also includes Tovino Thomas, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Krishna and Robo Shankar in pivotal roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing music for this venture. It may be noted here that Anirudh Ravichander had composed the music for the prequel.

While Tovino Thomas has just completed Maari 2, he also has a bunch of films in his kitty including Theevandi, Maradona, Oru Kuprasidha Payyan and Luca in Malayalam and Ondraga in Tamil.

Tovino made his debut in the Tamil film industry this year with Abhiyum Anuvum, which was a bilingual that was also released in Malayalam.
