 1. More discussion on TN CM Jayalalithaa’s health? A Lok Sabha MP of the AIADMK from Namakkal, Sundaram, has threatened to cut off the tongue of anyone raising questions about it. "The tongue of anyone who talks about Amma’s health will be cut off," he said. On the same day, Jayalalithaa held her first cabinet meeting since her return to power following her acquittal in the DA case. 2. In the latest in a string of defamation cases in TN, Finance minister, O Panneerselvam has filed a defamation suit against Junior Vikatan, a regional magazine, for publishing an article that was allegedly defamatory. According to the petition, the article dated July 19 targeted the reputation of the former Chief Minister. 3. DMK chief M Karunanidhi has promised to come down heavily on liquor consumption in TN if elected to power in the 2016 assembly elections. Coming in the wake of demands from other parties, Karunanidhi questioned in a statement, if total prohibition should be re-enforced. 4. After their rejection from participation in FM auctions, Sun Group has pointed fingers at the Central government accusing it of favouritism. The order was passed after a petition was filed by Arun Enterprise, who has a property near the building collapse site, where 60 persons died last year.
