  1. A Special Investigation Team formed by the Andhra Pradesh Government has been asked to investigate the death of 20 TN woodcutters in the state’s Seschachalam forests.  The probe has been initiated by questioning officials of a Madurai-based NGO, People’s Watch.  2. The Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru has conducted the first phase of its field trials to check the feasibility of installing solar panels on top of trains. Chennai-Coimbatore-Shatabdi Express will be the first train to be used for testing. The attention of railway officials was directed to an earlier study which calculated the power generated by solar panels on top trains. It was also stated that in theory, the implementation could save 90,000 litres of diesel a year. 3. A man who secured a Rs. 37 lakh loan  from a nationalised bank in Alandur by giving in fake documents has been nabbed by the Central Crime Branch officials. Kamalesh, a resident of Chittoor, bought a Mercedes Benz C220 worth Rs. 40 lakh with the money and later sold it. 4. IIT Madras is all geared up to mentor two new IITs in Palakkad and Tirupati. The new institutes are now open for its first set of batches for the year 2015-16. It will be offering B.Tech courses in civil, computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering.
