 1. The metro-rail is all set to be launched in Chennai. After a number of delays, the TN Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa is expected to inaugurate the 10 km elevated metro rail stretch from Koyambedu to Alandur via video conferencing on Monday.2. Re-poll has been called for in one booth of the RK Nagar constituency by the Election Commission. The order came after it was revealed that one of presiding officers had let voters who weren't on the electoral roll to vote..3. A drunk special sub-inspector in Chennai was booked under charges of indecent drunken behavior after he allegedly groped a womanwhen she was crossing a busy road at Kodambakkam. The woman then lodged a written complaint against the man and an FIR has been filed under the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act.4. At least 30 policemen were injured after hundreds of people turned up in Ambur in protest of the alleged custodial torture and death of a Muslim youth in the Vellore district.  The protest which turned violent was the result of an incident in which a youth died in a hospital a few days after he was picked up for questioning by the police.5. The Chennai Corporation has decided to provide some relief for the public with its announcement of plans to widen 14 roads. Naming some of the city’s main roads including the  Sardar Patel Road and Lattice Bridge Road, the Corporation has already finished surveys for the 14 arterial stretches after studying traffic patterns, vehicular population.
