  1. Around 2.3 lakh copies of Class 11 economics textbooks in Tamil Nadu are being recalled after a glaring error was detected. The preface in the book refers to DMK leader M Karunanidhi as the TN Chief Minister and Thangam Thennarasu as the education minister. Schools have also received instructions not to use the book until further orders.  2. Two coaches carrying 65 passengers on the Bangalore Mail headed to Chennai derailed on Wednesday near the Basin Bride Junction. Though the incident occurred while switching lines, the exact reason for it is not known. Passengers were moved to other coaches, while sub-urban services were majorly affected. 3. Saree retailer giant Nalli Chinnasami Chetty has taken Snapdeal.com to task over the usage of its trademark and their photographs on their site. Accusing the e-commerce company of copyright and trademark infringement, Nalli accused them of dishonesty. A “Cease & Desist Notice” has been issued.  4. The Home Ministry has no plans of responding to Sun Group chairman, Kalanithi Maran’s letter where he says that his company did not indulge in anti-national activities. Earlier Maran had written a letter to Rajnath Singh asking for an intervention after the refusal of security clearance of the licence for 33 television channels.  5. Earlier suspended by the Tamil Nadu government on charges of deserting office, Archana Ramasundaram, a 1980- batch IPS officer has been appointed as the Director of National Crime Records Bureau , New Delhi. In 2014, she had joined CBI as its Additional Director after which she was placed under suspension.  6. In a freak accident, a software engineer was killed after an iron rod fell on to him at the under-construction "metro" station site at St. Thomas Mount on Wednesday morning. The 30 kg railing fell from a height of 20 feet cracking 30 year-old Giridharan’s helmet. He was thrown off his bike from the impact and died on the spot from head injuries.
