  1. Two persons who claimed to be 'journalists' were arrested after they allegedly manhandled and misbehaved with policemen in an inebriated state. The lady journalist is reportedly working for a English daily in Chennai. The cops caught them in the wee hours of Sunday and subjected them to breath analyser test. The cops found that the other journalist who was riding the vehicle was found to be drunk beyond permissible limits.  2. Trouble is brewing for the Congress-led state government as JD(S) leader Kumaraswamy has decided to introduce a no-confidence motion against it. The move is intended to corner the Siddaramaiah government to discuss issues pertaining to Lokayukta corruption and farmer suicides. The JD(S) is well-aware that the motion is unlikely to succeed as it does not have the numbers and BJP is unlikely to support the motion.   3. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the state government does not have the power to order a CBI probe in the Lokayukta corruption case. He said he would immediately order the probe if the Opposition could point out the provision in the Karnataka Lokayukta Act that would allow the government to take suo moto action in this matter.    4. The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) is preparing ground for AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi who is expected to visit the state in the last week of the month to instill confidence among farmers. KPCC President G Parameshwara is likely to visit Mandya before that as the district has witnessed the highest number of suicides.   5. Two farmers ended their lives on Sunday and one more attempted suicide as they had borrowed loans and were unable to repay the debt. While two of the farmers who died hailed from the districts of Chitradurga and Haveri, another who attempted suicide was from Kundgol taluk in the state.
