Residents of Lakshmipura village in Anekal taluk have been living under constant fear for the last three days as there is thick smoke and fire emanating from an abandoned landfill. Congress MLA from Ballari, Anil Lad, who was recently arrested by the CBI officials on charges of alleged illegal export of iron ore from Belekeri port has been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. The CBI produced him before a special CBI court seeking extension, after his police custody expired on Monday. He has now been sent to Bangalore Central Prisons.  4. Upalokayukta Subhash B Adi who was accused of jurisdictional encroachment by Justice SB Majage and Congress MLA Ugrappa, has shot back saying that the allegations against him are "false". He said the case pertaining to Dr. Sheela Patil who was accused of siphoning medicines from government hospital for her husband's maternity clinic, was a case of confusion as the file was unknowingly handed over to him.  5.
