The State Election Commissioner PN Srinivasachari on Thursday announced that elections to Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will be held on July 28 and results will be announced three days later. With declaration of the date, the code of conduct has come into immediate effect, said the Commissioner.2. A debt-ridden sugarcane farmer from Pandavapura taluk in Mandya district committed suicide on Thursday by setting his field on fire and then walking into it. The 60-year-old farmer had suffered huge losses after sugar factories did not buy the stock and the prices dipped in the market.3.
