    1. The rivalry between the adherents of the Tangalai and Vadakalai  sects in the Sri vaishnavas at the hill shrine of Venkateswara  in Tirumala took a drastic turn after one group decided to move court against the other over the alleged intentional change in the 'Namam' or 'Tilak' of the presiding deity. With a 61-day fishing ban coming to an end on Sunday on the AP coast, boats are expected to venture into the sea with the start of the season. Recent rains coupled with a longer fishing ban period will help fishermen bring in higher marine catch this time, Times of India reports.   3. CPI(M) State secretary P. Madhu on Sunday criticized the TDP government for according minister’s status to several functionaries while claiming to have no funds to raise anganwadi workers’ monthly honorarium from Rs.4,200 to Rs. 6,200.Mr. Madhu said the government had accorded minister’s status to five whips and several advisors including Parakala Prabhakar. Read a report in The Hindu.   4. Even before construction of the capital city Amaravati has started, revenue from luxury tax in Vijayawada has increased in recent months.In the last two months, the government has earned Rs 19 lakh more from only Vijayawada city. Officials say that the revenue spurt is because of the increase in the number of VIP visitors to the capital area. Read details.    5. 'Pedarayudu,' one of the landmark films in the history of Telugu cinema which released on June 15, 1995, has now completed 20 years. The film was directed by Ravi Raja Pinisetty and stars Mohan Babu in a double role, which won him the Filmfare Best Actor Award. IT became an industry hit and made record collections. The movie also stars Rajinikanth in a cameo. Read more.
