In wake of the ragging incident that allegedly led to the suicide of Rishiteshwari, a student in Acharya Nagarjuna University, the fact finding committee chairman Balasubrahmanyam on Wednesday said that the committee would submit a detailed report within five days. Read more. 2. Former Congress MP G. V. Harsha Kumar was released from the central prison here on bail on Wednesday. He was arrested and sent to judicial remand as he took up hunger strike demanding allocation of site for burial ground for Christians and opened fire from his revolver during an altercation with police. Read a Deccan Chronicle report. 3. The promised pensions of Rs 2,500 for landless farmhands in the capital region are yet to reach the beneficiaries identified by the government. Not a single farmhand has been paid the pension and there is no clarification on when the dues would be paid. Things are falling in place for the much-hyped inland waterways project from Kakinada to Puducherry. The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) is planning to conduct a trial run in December this year and has asked the State Government to conduct a delineation survey all along the Buckhingam Canal to ascertain government lands and private properties, The Hindu reports. 5. Planning to showcase the proposed capital city of Amaravati as his major achievement in the run-up to the 2019 assembly elections, AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed ministers and senior officials to expedite the construction of at least a dozen skyscrapers in the first phase and complete it by 2018.
