A medical camp was set up in Andhra's Baliaguda tribal hamlet in Visakhapatnam Agency area, after three children of a family died due to suspected food poisoning on Saturday night.

The three siblings, were identified as Pangi Sattibabu (8), Pangi Sekhar (10), and Pangi Simhadri (6). While two of the children died in the remote area, one child and the parents were hospitalised after having a severe reaction.

The incident came to light after neighbours alerted the police on Sunday.

Officials of the Medical and Health Department and Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDA) on Sunday visited the village and set up a medical camp to ensure that no new cases occurred.

District Medical and Health Officer J Sarojini told Times of India, "We have conducted a medical camp in the hamlet and surrounding areas. We will keep a close watch for the next few days to ensure that such cases do not recur."

She also mentioned that all the three siblings died due to vomiting and abdomen pain.

It was reported that, two boys died at home, while another succumbed to poison while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Araku.

However, the DMHO is waiting for the post-mortem report to confirm the cause of the deaths.

Reports stated that the deaths had left villagers in shock.
