A 26-year-old doctor, who booked an Ola cab from Injambakkam on Sunday night, was in for a shock when two men allegedly tried to sexually assault her inside the cab.

Police arrested three men, including the driver of the cab on Monday.

Police told The Times of India that the woman was travelling from East Coast Road to Anna Nagar, where she works at a private hospital.

After getting into the cab from Injambakkam, the cab driver Venkatesan picked two of his friends from VGP Peace Temple at ECR and said that they will soon get down. Suspicious about their motives, the woman called a friend and told her about the situation. The friend immediately called the Neelankarai police and informed them. The woman later told the police that the men had tried to sexually assault her.

The doctor began screaming, and another vehicle which was passing by, heard her screams and got the vehicle to stop. Police arrested the driver, but the other two men managed to flee from the spot.

On Monday, police arrested the other two men, Muthupandi and Sakthivel from Kottivakkam. Police has filed a complaint against the three men.

Meanwhile, Ola stated that the driver has been blacklisted and terminated from his job. Police told the cab operators to find a way to do proper background check before hiring drivers.
