Police detained three persons in Hyderabad on Saturday, on suspicion of links with the terror group Islamic State (ISIS).

The suspects, including two minors, were picked up from Tolichowki area in the city and were being questioned about their alleged links with ISIS.

They were also being questioned about their alleged involvement in a terror plot in Uttar Pradesh.

Police officials including those from Uttar Pradesh were questioning them at an undisclosed location, according to sources.

It may be recalled that earlier in June, the city police had arrested 22-year old Konakalla Subramanyam alias Omer for alleged links with Islamic State sympathisers.

He was picked up from a house in Paramount Colony in Hyderabad.

According to earlier reports, the SIT authorities found a mobile phone in his possession, which contained incriminating conversation with IS sympathisers.

Subrmanyam was a native of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh.

He was arrested for criminal conspiracy.

In a statement, police had said, “He has been indulging in chatting with IS sympathisers through social media network like Facebook, WhatsApp and Telegram.”

In 2015, the NIA had arrested five persons for allegedly planning to carry out deadly attacks.

One among the accused was Mohammed Irfan alias Abu Jafar, a mechanic from Hyderabad’s Mir Alam Mandi area. He was collecting and transporting explosive material, among other things, police said.
