The News Minute | November 29, 2014 | 12:22am ISTKochi Mayor Tony Chemmany has lashed out at actor Mohanlal’s opinion on moral policing and kiss of love. Chammany countered Lal’s arguments about fake morality and kiss of love agitation in a letter posted on his blog. “There are other severe problems in the society than the freedom to kiss. Since you (Mohanlal) are a personality who influences young people, you should guide them in a proper way than supporting kiss of love. The students from our families should not be trapped in parks and parlours. They should strive to fulfil the wishes and dreams of their parents. The protests like Kiss of Love will create wrong notions about life and responsibilities in the minds of children. Agitations like this misinterpret the meaning of freedom. You should help young people to become gentle and moral,” he says in the letter addressed to Mohanlal. On November 21 Mohanlal had come out in the open against the issue of moral policing in a blog entry titled “Sadacharathinte pukayum pookalum”.The actor had mentioned in his blog that those who are irritated with the public display of affection better move away from the situation rather than questioning others. But Chammany countered the argument that such displays should be avoided in public. "We have the right to kiss and not kiss as well. But you cannot say that someone cannot kiss in front of your eyes. If such a sight is making you uncomfortable, then one should just move away. That is the right thing to do" he said in his blog“It is shameful that we take up moral policing with such excitement”, the actor wrote.
