As the Ministry of Textiles signed a Memorandum of Understanding with an NDTV company, Twitterati slammed the move, resulting in #NoDealWithNDTV which trended for a few hours on Thursday.

On May 12, the Ministry of Textiles said it had signed a MoU with NDTV Ethnic Retail Ltd, the textile wing of the news channel, to popularize Indian textiles and handloom.

According to a PIB press release, the idea behind the collaboration is to popularize Indian handloom textiles as “a fashionable product for youth.” The three-year MoU was signed on May 10 at Udyog Bhawan. The resultant project will be called Indianroots Fashion Accelerator (IFA).

The move did not go down too well with a number of right-wing Twitterati who expressed anger against the deal with the hashtag #NoDealWithNDTV.

Some were disappointed with the decision and said that would withhold their support unless the deal was called off.

The deal apparently embarrassed some BJP supporters.

Some had a problem with the government doing business with a supposedly 'anti-national' channel.

Meanwhile it seems that others were quite enjoying the show!
