Telugu rights of Kaatru Veliyidai bagged for a fancy price

There has always been unprecedented demand for Mani Ratnam’s films and it applies to his upcoming film, Kaatru Veliyidai, too. Popular Telugu producer and distributor Dil Raju has snapped the theatrical rights of the film’s dubbed Telugu version and it marks his second time collaboration with the maverick filmmaker in a row after OK Kanmani.

The rights, according to trade sources, were bought for a never before quoted price for a Mani Ratnam film.

Although producer Bandla Ganesh was interested in paying much more than what was originally quoted by Ratnam’s camp, the rights were offered to Raju following his previous collaboration with the Roja filmmaker and the brand value of his production company.

With nearly 50 percent of the film already completed, the makers are heading on track to wrap up the project on time.

In the film, which stars Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead, the former plays a pilot and will be seen in two different getups including a clean-shaven look. Also starring Shraddha Srinath, RJ Balaji, Delhi Ganesh and Rukmini Vijayakumar, the makers will shoot the next schedule in Kashmir.
