The Rachakonda police have announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for anyone who can give them information on a missing man Amboji Naresh, hailing from Yadadri Bhongir district in Telangana.

Naresh (23) had gone missing after he dropped his wife Tummala Swathi (20) at Bhogir town in Telangana on May 2. The couple had eloped in March and married in Mumbai.

Swathi had returned to her home town after her father repeatedly called her. Swathi then hung herself in her parent’s house on May 16, days before she was due to appear in court.

Naresh's father, Venkataiah, moved the HC on May 15 and filed a habeas corpus petition, following which the court asked the Telangana police to either find and produce Naresh, or file a detailed report on the incident by June 1.

According to reports, the police have also circulated missing posters in Bhongir district and other neighbouring regions.

Initially, Venkataiah had alleged that Swathi had killed herself due to harassment from her parents, and also claimed that the girl's father had kidnapped or killed his son.

However, a 'selfie' video by Swathi that surfaced after her death, contradicted these claims.

"The reason I'm attempting suicide, is because of the boy's side of the family. My family is not related to it in any way," Swathi had said in the video.

Stating that her father did not even raise his voice against her, Swathi claimed that  her husband asked her how much property and gold her family owned, on multiple occasions, and even asked her for dowry.

This video reinforced the allegation of Srinivas Reddy, Swathi's father, who claimed that Naresh had asked for dowry, when he dropped Swathi back home.

Speaking after the video surfaced, Srinivas told the media that he had no idea where Naresh was, and alleged that his own family was hiding him, to torture Reddy's family.
