The News Minute | November 9, 2014 | 9:30 am ISTAs part of its efforts to ensure women's safety, the Telangana government has decided to start round-the-clock helpdesk with toll free number 181 to address all complaints.Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao Thursday directed officials to start the helpline so that concerned departments can swiftly act on the women's complaints.At a high-level meeting, he reviewed the measures being taken for women's protection in the state as recommended by a panel constituted by the government.Voicing concern over use of social media for harassing women, the chief minister asked officials to explore possibilities of controlling social media as China and Gulf countries do. KCR, as the chief minister is popularly known, asked the officials to install CCTV cameras in crowded public places in Hyderabad to keep an eye on eve-teasers.The city police officials briefed him on the activity of 'she' teams and other measures being taken to tackle eve-teasing.The chief minister directed the police authorities to implement 33 percent reservation for women in the police force.Every police station will have a women's wing. He wanted the authorities to extend to the entire state the measures being taken for women's safety in Hyderabad.A senior officer in every district will be given the task of implementing these measures.KCR said fast-track courts will be set up in all districts for expeditious disposal of cases relating to crime against women. Director Genaral of Police Anurag Sharma, police commissioners of Hyderabad and Cyberabad and some senior women police and civil officials attended the meeting. IANS
