Telangana home minister denies reports, says slain gangsters had no terror links

The News Minute | April 4, 2015 | 2:40 pm IST Telangana Home Minister N. Narasimha Reddy has denied that the two gangsters killed in a gunfight with police on Saturday had any terror links. He told reporters here that both of them were suspected to be members of a gang from Uttar Pradesh and that investigations are on. "They had no terror links. There is no question of this. This was an inter-state gang of dacoits," he said when asked about some media reports that the duo were members of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). A policeman was killed and two officers were injured in the gunfight that occurred on Saturday morning near Janakipur village in Nalgonda district, about 175 km from here.
