TDP leader and ex-Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya reached out to Andhra Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan on Tuesday, alleging that her husband Bhargav Ramudu is being harassed by the police in the YSRCP-led government, with false cases being foisted against him.
Bhuma Akhila has been having a tiff with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government ever since the YSRCP came to power.
Earlier in the first week of October, Allagadda police had registered a case against Bhuma Akhila's husband Bhargav and 10 other people over a dispute with a quarry factory owner Sivarami Reddy.
Speaking to media after giving representation to Governor, Bhuma Akhila said, “I have explained how the case was registered against him (Bhargav). I have submitted all the evidence which proves that it was a false case. The Governor has also assured us of justice."
She has also stated that her complaint was neither against the District SP nor the police but on the "preposterous case and arrests without enquiry or evidence". She said, "I have given representation to Governor to make sure no one gets into such a situation. As I have experienced difficulties with a case being filed against a family member, I have come forward to set an example by fighting against false cases."
Bhuma Akhila was accompanied by several TDP leaders including ex-RTC Chairmen Varla Ramaiah.
Background
Akhila Priya has been alleging since October when the case was registered, that her husband is being "victimised" through vendetta politics by using police mechanism. However, at that time itself, District SP Dr Fakeerappa Kaginelli, refuted her allegations and stated that police are functioning in an impartial way.
According to senior police officials, a case has been registered based on prima facie evidence following a complaint from the Sivaramireddy family for "criminal intimidation", "attempt to murder".
It is said that Sivaramireddy is a close relative of Bhuma Akhila with whom Bhargav had differences over certain business issues.
A case was also registered by Cyberabad police under IPC Sections 353 and 336 for obstructing Allagadda police officials from doing their duty.
Later, Allagadda police on October 22, conducted a raid on the house of former minister Bhuma Akhilapriya in Hyderabad to arrest Bhargav in the same case. Bhargav later surrendered himself in court and got bail in the case.
