A week after two tribal girls were gang raped by a group of eight men in Andhra's Visakhapatnam district, another accused, the son of a head constable has been arrested by the Chintapalle police on Friday.

According to The New Indian Express, the accused has been identified as L Siva Nagendra, son of G K Veedhi head constable, L Ganesh.  

K Varun, son of TDP MPTC Angadha Rao, is the main accused.

The report said that after his parents counselled him, Nagendra surrendered before the police

Earlier on Thursday, the police had arrested Korabu Veera Venkata Varun alias K Varun (21), Ch Sravan Kumar (22) and M Hari Govinda Prasad (26).

On May 20, two minor tribal girls were gang raped by eight men, when they went for a local fair at Tajangi village.

The girls along with the two boys had gone there, however, they chased away the male friends and raped the girls one after another.

It was reported that one of girls was 13 years old, the other was a 10-year-old.

The local reports said that the village elders directed them to pay Rs 50,000 compensation to the two victims, instead of filing a complaint.

“Rs 50,000 was offered to them, but we are not sure if the village elders ordered it. They are denying it now. We are investigating if the accused or their parents offered it,” Anil, Deputy Superintendent of Police earlier told TNM.

Following a complaint, police registered cases under various sections including 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint), 354 (outraging modesty) of the Indian Penal code, Sec. 6 of POSCO Act 2012 (aggravated sexual assault) and Sec.3(1) (intentional insult) under SC,ST POA Act 2012 against the accused.
