Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao on Friday offered his kidney to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who is suffering from kidney failure and on the lookout for a suitable donor.
In a letter to Sushma Swaraj, Rao said: "I am very sorry to hear about your health problems and that you have been diagnosed with renal failure. As AIIMS doctors have advised you for the renal transplant at the earliest, Madam I shall be very grateful (if) you kindly accept my offer for donation of my kidney to you for transplant."
The 73-year-old MP hails from Narasaraopet constituency in Andhra Pradesh.
According to AIIMS doctors, the search for a donor is on and the date for transplant will be fixed once a donor is arranged for the minister.
