After Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalithaa recently announced that she would take decisions regarding electoral alliances "according to the current political situation", Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) treasurer MK Stalin on Friday said he sees her statement as the beginning of the AIADMK's downfall.

Reacting to Jayalalithaa’s recent speech at the general council meeting on Thursday, Stalin said, “The person who was saying 'Me,Me' and was speaking with arrogance, those who said they could not even see an opponent in front of them is now talking about forming alliance. That itself is an example of the downfall of the AIADMK party.”

Of the 14 resolutions passed during the AIADMK’s general council meet, nine were praising Jayalalithaa. Her speech was focussed on preparations for elections and also her government’s actions during the Chennai floods.

Jayalalithaa had also blamed DMK for running a false campaign against her government over the Chennai floods at the meeting.
