The News Minute | December 23, 2014 | 08:54 AM pm IST Conflicting reports made the rounds about the number of fishermen released by Sri Lanka on Monday.  According to fishermen leaders 81 fishermen were released, however it was later revealed that a Lankan court had released 66 fishermen at the end of Monday, reported Times of India.  The Sri Lankan navy had caught 43 fishermen and their five boats. These 43 were presented before Point Pedro court on Monday.  While 14 Nagapattinam fishermen and 14 from Karaikal were released, 15 more fishermen from Karaikal were remanded till January 15.  The remand was surprising as it was the first time that Sri Lanka had remanded some fishermen while releasing some of them from the same batch.
