The Guardians of Peace, the group that hacked in to Sony’s internal data and acquired 1 terabyte worth of their data, has reportedly sent out a chilling message threatening an 9/11 style attack on movie theatres that plan to screen Seth Rogen and James Franco’s movie The Interview, according to a report on TechCrunch.
The Interview is a film about an assassination attempt on North Korea Supreme leader Kim Jong-un by two journalists who are commissioned by the CIA and is scheduled for release on Christmas.
The message from the group which read,
“Warning
We will clearly show it to you at the very time and places “The Interview” be shown, including the premiere, how bitter fate those who seek fun in terror should be doomed to.
Soon all the world will see what an awful movie Sony Pictures Entertainment has made.
The world will be full of fear.
Remember the 11th of September 2001.
We recommend you to keep yourself distant from the places at that time.
(If your house is nearby, you’d better leave.)
Whatever comes in the coming days is called by the greed of Sony Pictures Entertainment.
All the world will denounce the SONY.”
According to the reports , the theaters that will be showing the movie won’t be made available until just days before the release date.
The hackers on Tuesday have already delivered their supposed Christmas gift to Sony pictures CEO Michael Lynton’s email account. The message which read, “We have already promised a Christmas gift to you. This is the beginning of the gift.” According to reports as part of the gift, the group claims to have hacked over 12,000 CD’s worth of data from Sony and has promised to leak more if their demands are not met.
The lead actors of the film have decided to cancel their appearances, said the report.
