Sivakarthikeyan hints ‘Hero’ sequel on the cards

Director PS Mithran, who made a big splash last year with Vishal’s Irumbu Thirai, has joined hands with Sivakarthikeyan for a project titled Hero a Superhero film. With the film slated to hit the screens on December 20, the audio launch happened in Chennai on Friday.

During the event, Siva spilled beans that a sequel of the film is on the cards and the film will turn into a franchise if it becomes a super hit. He also revealed that the film will have an 18 minutes sequence for which Yuvan has composed a non-stop background score. Speaking at the event, composer Yuvan Shankar Raja said, "I’ve done many re-recordings, but for the first time, we’ve done this lengthiest piece – 18-minute score. I think it will be the longest score ever. I don’t know if it’s been done before in India, but this is the longest I know of".

Kalyani Priyadarshan, daughter of veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan, plays Siva's love interest in the film and this film marks the Tamil debut of Kalyani. The film also stars Arjun Sarja, while Abhay Deol has been roped in to play the antagonist. It is worth mentioning that Arjun had played the antagonist in Irumbu Thirai as well. Vivek and Robo Shankar have been roped in to play pivotal roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for the film. Bankrolled by KJR Studios, George C Williams and Ruben are in charge of the film’s cinematography and editing respectively.  

Basking in the success of his recent rural comedy Namma Veetu Pillai, Sivakarthikeyan has pinned high hopes on his upcoming projects. He has a yet-untitled project with Vignesh Shivn and if everything goes as planned, this film will start rolling early next year. Currently dubbed as SK 17, it was recently reported that Rashmika Mandanna is in talks for the project which will feature two heroines. To be produced by Lyca Productions, the film will mark the maiden collaboration of Siva and Shivn. Siva also has the yet-untitled science-fiction film with Ravi kumar.  This film also stars Rakul Preet Singh as an astronomer.

Siva also has a project with director Nelson Dhiliplumar of Kolamavu Kokila fame titled Doctor. The film would be produced by KJR Studios in association with Siva's home banner Sivakarthikeyan Production in which he had earlier bankrolled Kanaa & Nenjam Undu Nermai Undu Odu Raja.
