Kannada star Shiva Rajkumar and director A Harsha had teamed up for the first time in 2013 for Bhajarangi, which turned out to be a blockbuster hit. Later on they worked together in Vajrakaya in 2015. Recently, there was an announcement that the duo would be collaborating for a film titled My Name is Anji. However, it has now been revealed that this film has been re-titled as Bhajarangi 2. While there is speculation that it may be a sequel to their hit movie Bhajarangi, it has been clarified that Bhajarangi 2 will be a completely different film and only the title is being used.

Touted to be a commercial entertainer, Bhajarangi 2 will be bankrolled by Jayanna and Bogendra under the banner Jayanna Films. Reports indicate that the groundwork for this film is on and the shooting will begin on June 20.

Bhavana has been roped in to play the lead opposite Shiva Rajkumar in this project. She had shared screen space with Shiva Rajkumar in Tagaru earlier and shares a good rapport with him. Details about the rest of the star cast and crew are expected to be revealed soon.

Shiva Rajkumar is currently busy with Rustum, a Ravi Varma directorial. The film is produced by Jayanna and Bhogendra under the banner Jayanna Combines. Shraddha Srinath has been roped in to play the female lead while Mayuri will be seen as Shiva Rajkumar’s sister in this film. A romantic action entertainer, Rustum will mark the directorial debut of ace stunt master Ravi Varma. Anoop Seelin is scoring the music for this movie and Mahendra Simha is wielding the camera.

The star also has the P Vasu directorial Anand, Luck Gopal’s SRK and Pramod Chakravarthy’s Drona needing his attention.

Recently there were reports that the makers of Ajith’s Viswasam have decided to do a remake of the film in Kannada and according to the industry grapevine, Shiva Rajkumar is impressed with the film and wants to reprise the role played by Ajith in the original. But we have to wait for an official confirmation from the filmmakers.
