Expanding the choice to the customers of full screen display phones, Sharp, the Japanese electronics giant has launched a new phone, the Aquos R Compact. Sharp had already launched its model Aquos S2 which also has near bezel-free display, but with the new Aquos R Comapct it has gone the whole hog with just the tiny circle on the top for the selfie camera. At the bottom of the front panel is the physical home button with the fingerprint sensor integrated beneath it.

The Compact is because the display size is just 4.9-inches. The screen resolution, however, is quite impressive at 2032x1080pixels offering full HD quality display. There is also the 120Hz refresh cycle which is quite significant as far as the display on this Sharp phone is concerned. Most other smartphones don’t offer even half this rate.

The processing power is provided by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660SoC backed by 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The OS is the latest Android Oreo version 8.0 with the EMOPA 7.0 UI on top. The battery is 2500mAh in size and the phone comes with the Quick Charge 3.0 feature as well.

All the connectivity options, including 4G VoLTE will be made available and the USB type-C port provision is also present on the Aquos R Compact. Black, white, silver and gold are the 4 colors from which the customers can choose.

With all these, the phone is being sold at just $372. The only factor though, is that the phone has since been released only in the Japanese market and that too exclusively through SoftBank. The phone ships in December 2017. There is no information on when and if the Sharp Aquos R Compact will be brought to and sold in India.
