In a major development ahead of the May 16 elections in Kerala, a Malayalam news channel has reported that it has a copy of the letter in which solar scam co-accused Saritha Nair accuses Chief Minister Oommen Chandy of sexually abusing her.

On Sunday, Asianet News released the letter, which is dated March 19, 2013. Saritha claims in the letter that she was sexually abused by a former union minister and Chandy, and the alleged bribe paid was to the CM. She accused Chandy of sexually abusing her at his residence, Cliff House.

Saritha Nair said that the letter carried by Asianet was indeed written by her. She also said that she wanted to give the letter to then Additional Judicial Magistrate, and that she had not stated this before the Solar Commission because she was ‘ashamed’.

This is the first time that she has accused the CM of sexual abuse. Previously, she had accused CM's son Chandy Oommen of sexually abusing her and the CM of accepting bribes.

Responding to these allegations, CM Oommen Chandy said, "This is last attempt to put down this government. Propaganda at the time of elections. A proper enquiry will be done on this propaganda,"

Earlier when Biju Radhakrishnan levelled sexual abuse allegations against the CM she had denied.

Saritha has mentioned the existence of this letter since the time that the solar scam first came to light.
