Kannada star Yash tasted success with KGF: Chapter 1 with the film turning out to be an enormous hit. The film, which hit the marquee in December last year, was released in five languages simultaneously – Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam – and Yash became a star with a pan Indian appeal.

Yash is now busy with the sequel to KGF. According to the latest reports, he is planning to rope in Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt to play the antagonist in it. Yash told Asian Age in an interview, “We had offered him Chapter one, which he did not accept perhaps for reasons of date availability. But yes, we have offered him Chapter 2 of KGF.” If Sanjay Dutt agrees to hop onboard the project, it will be his first ever south Indian film.

KGF: Chapter 1 completed 50 days at the worldwide box office. Upon its release on December 21, it had become the first Kannada movie to get such a big release around the world. The film has collected Rs 243.10 crore at the worldwide box office and it will be interesting to see if it can breach the Rs 250 crore mark.

KGF is directed by Prashanth Neel, who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues. Vijay Kiragandur produced the project under his banner Hombale Films. The film has Yash playing the lead role and paired up opposite him is Srinidhi Shetty as the heroine. The rest of the star cast includes Achyuth Kumar, Nassar, Anant Nag and Vasishta N. Simha. The film is narrated by Anant Nag. The technical team comprises music director Ravi Basrur, cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda and art director Shivakumar.

The mega budget movie is distributed by some of the high-profile distributors in the film industry. In Tamil, the distribution rights were lapped up by Vishal’s Vishal Film Factory and the Malayalam version is distributed by Global United Media. The Hindi is distributed by Farhan Akthar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment jointly with Anil Thadani’s AA Films.
