Samsung has made an announcement on a smartphone Z4, which should be considered as an entry level smartphone, particularly for users who would want to graduate from a feature phone to experiencing the internet and social media, using a data connection. The phone has therefore the specs and features fitting this segment.

The Samsung Z4 has a 4-inch WVGA display, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage provision. There is, however the slot for a microSD that can expand this storage up to 128GB. The display itself is just 400x800pixels in resolution and protected by 2.5D curved glass. According to Samsung, it is providing this curved glass screen protection on its Z series phones for the first time on the Z4. The phone’s dimensions read 132.9x69.2x10.3mm and it weighs 143 grams.

The main processor fitted on the Samsung Z4 is a quad-core one that clocks a speed of 1.5GHz. The Samsung Z4 runs on Samsung’s Tizen OS version 3.0 and importantly supports 4G LTE (VoLTE ready). The battery in this phone is rated at 2050mAh.

It is in the imaging department that the new Samsung smarphone has some noteworthy features. The phone comes with identical 5MP cameras in the rear as well as the front. The rear camera receives a dual LED flash support and the front camera also has a LED flash to boost the imaging quality. In fact, the company expressly believes the camera features have been deliberately designed to help the users with a more productive experience with their photography and to use the social media to share the images clicked with this phone, the Samsung Z4.

As mentioned, the phones are being launched in select markets and to start with, only Indian buyers can lay their hands on the Z4 in black, silver or gold colours.

Though the phone stands launched, the exact date of commercial release and the price at which it will be sold in India have not been made public yet.
