Samsung introduced its newly named double digit series, the Samsung Galaxy M10 and the Samsung Galaxy M20 in the Indian market on Monday. The significance of this launch is these devices have been built in India and this is the only market they are being launched as of now. 

These phones also mark the start of the new trend in giving nomenclature to the phones, which many predict will be extended to the other S, Note and A series phones as well. In the M series, the South Korean company is expected to bring out smartphones right up to M90 this year. The Samsung Galaxy M10 and M20 will be mid-segment offerings.

Samsung Galaxy M10

The display on this phone is 6.22 inches and Samsung describes the display as Infinity V on its Indian website. The HD+ display has a screen resolution of 720x1520pixels and has an aspect ratio of 19:9.

An octa core Exynos 7872 processor, that clocks a speed of 1.6GHz is the processor. This is not a new chipset as Samsung fits its other phones as well. The RAM will be in 2 variants, 2GB and 3GB and the corresponding internal storage levels 16GB and 32GB respectively. A dedicated microSD card slot gives the option to the users of the Samsung Galaxy M10 to up the storage to 512GB. Samsung is releasing this device with the Android Oreo, version 8.1 OS with the Experience UI v9.5 acting as the skin.

The camera function has a dual 13MP+5MP sensor setup in the rear and a 5MP shooter takes care of selfie clicks on the front. There is a 3400mAh battery under the hood. Charcoal Black and Ocean Blue are the colours in which the phone has been released. There is no fingerprint sensor on this phone, but there is the Fast Face Unlock.

The Samsung Galaxy M20

The Samsung Galaxy M20 is the higher rated phone of the two and comes with a 6.3-inch full HD+ display having an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and the screen resolution reading 1080x2340pixels. The processor fitted on this phone is the Exynos 7904SoC that has a clocking speed of 1.8GHz. It gets support from a Mali G71 MP2 GPU for graphics. And the RAM on this device too is in two variants, 3GB and 4GB, while the internal storage levels are 32GB and 64. A microSD card can be inserted that gives storage support of up to 512GB. The OS combination of Android Oreo and Experience v9.5 has been retained on this phone as well.

Camera specs differ from the M10 slightly, in that it has a dual 13MP+5MP camera in the rear and an 8MP shooter in the front. This phone has the Fast Face Unlock in addition to the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. A huge 5000mAh battery rounds up the hardware specs.

The price for the Samsung Galaxy M10: 2GB/16GB variant is Rs 7,990 and for the 3GB/32GB variant it is Rs 8,990. For the Samsung Galaxy M20: 3GB/32GB variant is Rs 10,990 and for the 4GB/64GB it is Rs 12,990.

These phones will be sold online exclusively on Amazon from February 5 and early birds can net some attractive offers.
