Five years since the release of the widely popular and critically-acclaimed Aaranya Kaandam, its director Thiagarajan Kumararaja is ready with his next project.
It will reportedly feature Vijay Sethupathi and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the titular roles.
Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil is rumoured to be playing the second leading hero and the film is slated to go on the floors later this year.
Initially, Kumararaja was supposed to work on a Hindi film with Hrithik Roshan. However, due to budget constraints the project was never green-lit in the first place.
He was briefly associated with an indie film called X, which was directed in collaboration by eleven directors.
When things were taking a while to materialize, he decided to work on a Tamil project instead and that’s how this particular film came up.
The project marks the first time pairing of Samantha and Vijay Sethupathi, who has had a wonderful year with six releases so far.
It’s interesting that Samantha is no longer waiting for opportunities to work with stars but instead is willing to work with others too, provided there’s ample scope for performance.
