One of the three suspects arrested in connection with the murder of a CPI (M) worker Mohanan in Kannur last week, was allegedly attacked in a district prison on Monday.

According to a report in The New Indian Express, RSS worker Navjith, was thrashed by a CPI (M) sympathizer and sustained injuries on his ears.

The 26-year-old Navjith was arrested and remanded in judicial custody on Friday, along with two others, Rahul and Roopesh.

BJP’s former district president K Ranjith alleged that Navjith was attacked by a CPI (M) worker, who was earlier arrested for allegedly hacking BJP worker Manoj to death.

The report says that Navjith was shifted to the district jail following tensions after a few inmates threw mud in the food of their rivals. A complaint has been filed with the jail superintendent.

Navjith has in the past been involved in clashes between CPI (M) and BJP/RSS.

Fifty-year-old Mohanan, a toddy shop worker was hacked to death by a group of unidentified persons on Monday. While Rahul and Roopesh were arrested for leading the attackers to Mohanan, the Panoor police arrested Navjith for hatching the conspiracy.
