Ram Gopal Varma's Lakshmi's NTR, based on actor-politician NT Rama Rao’s political life will be releasing on March 29. The Telangana High Court on Tuesday dismissed the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by an activist VDVV Satyanarayana seeking a stay on the film until the completion of the elections.

Satyanarayana had sought a stay on both Lakshmi's NTR and Lakshmi’s Veera Grandham claiming that the release of these films during elections would create tensions in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, both of which are going to polls on April 11.

After reviewing the petition, the bench comprising Chief Justice TBN Radhakrishnan and Justice A Rajasheker Reddy asked how can anyone could crush the opinion of another.

“Though the said movies were based on political rivalry, the courts cannot put curbs on the fundamental rights of the citizens from expressing themselves,” the bench said, according to The New Indian Express.

“The petitioner cannot make the high court a boardroom to adjudicate a person’s opinion. If there were any instances of hatred or law and order problem after the release of the said films,  the government and police were well equipped to deal with such type of instances,” the bench observed and dismissed the PIL.

Lakshmi's NTR, is based on Telugu Desam Party founder, actor NT Rama Rao’s political life. Based on the promo and trailer, the film deals with the subject of how current TDP president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu usurped power by engineering a coup against NTR.

The lyrical song, “kutra daga” (conspiracy) has already triggered the TDP supporters, who have filed complaints at various police stations alleging defamation of Chandrababu.

Unfazed by the reactions, Ram Gopal Varma has been promoting his film on social media through memes and troll videos.

On Wednesday, he released the video song ‘Vijayam’ from the film.
