Reliance Jio is all set to expand its 5G network services in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The telecom giant announced that the rollout of the Jio True 5G services in the two cities will be done in a phased manner. Further, as part of its “Jio Welcome Offer”, Jio will provide unlimited 5G data at speeds upto 1 GB per second.

Earlier, Jio had conducted a beta trial of its 5G services in six cities including Chennai, Mumbai, Nathdwara, Kolkata and Varanasi. The Indian Express reported that the option to enable 5G services will be available only for select users in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, as was the case in the other cities where the beta trial was conducted. Reports state that Reliance Jio spent over Rs 88,000 crore in August to purchase spectrum in the 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 3300 MHz, and 26 GHz bands.

Earlier in October, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani had said that Jio would bring 5G services to every citizen by December 2023. Addressing the sixth edition of Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Ambani said that Jio will ensure that "every village will enjoy 5G services by December 2023, as Jio sets to begin the roll out of 5G. "Jio 5G services will connect everyone, every place and everything with the highest quality and affordability. We are committed to making India a data-powered economy even ahead of China and the US," said Ambani.
