Riding high on success with a hat-trick at the box office this year, Rana Daggubati is gearing up to play the lead role in 1945.

Touted to be a period flick set in the pre-Independence era, it will have Rana sporting a completely different look.

Taking to Twitter to reveal about the film, Rana had tweeted along with a pic, “Going to recreate time once again, Now it’s the year ‘1945’!! Filming for the second major schedule of my next #1945 begins today!!”

Reports suggest that Rana plays a soldier in the Subash Chandra Bose led army Azad Hind Fauj (Indian National Army). Pairing up with Rana in 1945 happens to be Regina Cassandra who will be seen as a Chettiar girl.

Directed by Sathya Siva, 1945 is a bilingual made in Telugu and Tamil simultaneously.

While the Telugu version is titled 1945, its Tamil version is titled Madai Thiranthu. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing tunes for this flick with Sathya cranking the camera and Gopi editing it. Sathyaraj, Nasser and RJ Balaji are also included in the star cast to play pivotal roles. The film is bankrolled by SN Rajarajan under the banner K Productions.

It may be mentioned here that Rana has had a good year so far with three of his films – The Ghazi Attack, Baahubali: the Conclusion and Nene Raju Nene Mantri doing good business at the box office.

With Baahubali: the Beginning, Rana turned out to be a star with pan Indian appeal and has earned himself a strong fan base across the country.

As an actor, Rana made his debut in Leader in 2010 and has acted in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi films such as Dum Maro Dum, Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, Arrambam, etc.
