The NTR biopic is one of the most anticipated biopics in the Telugu film industry. With a number of biopics being made currently including the YSR biopic Yaatra and the Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy biopic Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, fans are looking for the NTR biopic as it features N Balakrishna in the title role.

According to the latest reports, actress Rakul Preet has confirmed playing the role of late actor Sridevi in the movie. Makers have revealed that Rakul was their first choice as she is a popular face in the South Indian film industry.

Sridevi and NTR have done 14 movies together including Rowdi Ramudu Konte Krishnudu (1980) and Vayyari Bhamalu Vagalamaari Bharthalu (1982).

The makers of the movie officially announced Rakul Preet coming on board the film on Twitter on Saturday.

In an interview to the Deccan Chronicle, Rakul Preet talked about reprising the role of the yesteryear actor. “This is going to be the most challenging character I’ve played so far because Srideviji is a legend. She was and is loved by millions. I have always been a big fan of hers and playing the diva on screen is a huge responsibility. I hope I can do justice to the role. I am thankful that the makers of the film have such faith in me, and I hope I am able to live up to it.”

“I have already watched several films of hers, and I’m going to be watching more films that the filmmakers have suggested so that I can get the body language and the expressions right. I will be working on my look too — there will be a series of look tests. I will also try to meet the people associated with her to find out more about her. On the whole, I am really excited about the project,” the actor further said.

The NTR biopic is bankrolled by N Balakrishna along with Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Induri. Director Teja was initially roped in to direct it but he opted out for various reasons and now the project is helmed by J Krish.
