Actor Rakul Preet Singh, who was last seen in Karthi’s Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, currently has three Tamil projects at various stages of production. The biggest among them happens to be Suriya’s NGK, which is currently put on the back-burner for reasons unknown.

She has completed shooting for Karthi’s action-adventure film Dev and awaits its release. Rakul also has a yet-untitled science-fiction film with Sivakarthikeyan with director Ravikumar. It is being rumoured that she plays the role of an astronomer in the film which is gearing up for release next year.

According to industry sources, director Ravikumar has been working on the film’s pre-production for over a year now. There were rumours at one point that the project was shelved.

During the promotions of Velaikkaran, Sivakarthikeyan had told reporters: “The delay in commencement is due to exhaustive research work for the project. I told Ravi that he can go work on another film and come back when I’m done with all my existing commitments. But he insisted that he will work on the pre-production and keep everything ready by the time I’m ready to join.”

It has already been confirmed that the film will have music by double Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman, and Siva has already confirmed that he has convinced Rahman to croon the opening song of the film.

Sivakarthikeyan, whose last release was Ponram directed Seemaraja is on the verge of completing shooting for his next film with director Rajesh. Nayanthara plays the leading lady in the film with Rajesh, and this will be her second collaboration with Siva after Velaikkaran.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that Siva will next team up with Irumbuthirai director PS Mithran for a new project which is also expected to start rolling from next year.
