Tollywood producers are seemingly unhappy over the postponement of the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 from January to April, as it would clash with major releases in the Telugu film industry.

Tollywood biggies like Bharat Ane Nenu starring Telugu actor Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun’s Naa Peru Surya Naa Illu India (NPSNII) are slated to release during the summer.

Film Producer Bunny Vas from Geeta Arts, who is also the producer of NPSNI, has requested Lyca Productions, producers of 2.0 to shift the film’s release date. He stated that the film’s release in April would affect other regional films which are scheduled for the same time.

He said that he is in talks with producer DVV Danayya, producer of Bharat Ane Nenu and also said that he was planning to approach the Producers Council and Exhibitor Associations in Andhra and Telangana, to take up the issue.

2.0 was initially planned to be released in January. However, the filmmakers reportedly postponed the date to April, making it a summer release.

According to speculation, as the film’s budget is a reported Rs 450 crore, the producers want to look for a summer release, for returns on their investment. As of now, it is uncertain if the producers will consider the appeal of the Telugu producers and shift the dates.

The film will have a simultaneous release in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi among other languages.

Bharat Ane Nenu and NPSNII are big budget films with leading stars like Mahesh Babu and Allu Arjun. The producers of these films have already confirmed the film’s release in April. Now, they fear that the mega budget 2.0 will affect their films.

Bharat Ane Nenu is directed by Koratla Siva, who earlier directed Srimanthudu with Mahesh Babu, while NPSNII is directed by famous script writer Vakkantham Vamsi.

2.0 is reportedly shot in 3D, and the film stars superstar Rajinikanth, Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and actor Amy Jackson. Music for the film is scored by AR Rahman. Recently, the film’s audio was released amidst much fanfare in Dubai.
