Superstar Rajinikanth, who was last seen on screen playing a hostel warden with a dark past in Karthik Subbaraj’s Petta, is currently shooting for AR Murugadoss’s Darbar in Mumbai.

Fresh reports have now emerged that the 68-year-old star has listened to scripts from veteran filmmaker KS Ravikumar and Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru director H Vinoth, who has recently finished shooting Ajith Kumar starrer Nerkonda Paarvai. Apparently, Rajinikanth has liked both the scripts of the filmmakers and is yet to officially give his nod whether he will do both the projects or pick which one to do next.

According to reliable sources, Ravikumar and Rajinikanth have been in talks for a new project for quite some time now. Known for joining hands for blockbusters films such as Muthu, Annamalai and Padayappa, Ravikumar wishes to make up for the debacle of Lingaa with a hit project.

Vinoth, on the other hand, had pitched a script to Rajinikanth even before he started working on Nerkonda Paarvai. The industry grapevine is that Rajinikanth really liked Vinoth’s story idea and even expressed to collaborate with him. However, he is yet to officially sign the dotted line. This process might take a couple of months as he’s now busy with the shoot of Darbar.

In Darbar, Rajinikanth returns to playing a cop after 25 years. He was last seen donning the khaki uniform for 1992 film Pandian. Produced by Lyca Productions, Darbar will be entirely shot in Mumbai where previously Kaala was also shot.

Nayanthara has been roped in as the leading lady in Darbar, which has music by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography by Santosh Sivan. The makers are yet to reveal the rest of the cast. There are rumours doing the rounds that SJ Suryah might play the antagonist.
