AR Murugadoss’s Darbar, starring Rajinikanth in the role of a cop after 25 years is currently in its post-production stage. Director Murugadoss took to Twitter on Thursday morning to announce that the crew is all set to start working for the dubbing of the film. He posted, "Thalaivarin Darbar Dubbing starts today!!!#DarbarThiruvizha."

The film also stars Nayanthara, Prateik Babbar, Nivetha Thomas, Dalip Tahil, Yogi Babu and Suniel Shetty in important roles. Prateik won’t play the main antagonist and will be seen playing the son of the actor who plays the primary villain. The film will hit the screens during the Pongal festival next year.

Popular lensman Santosh Sivan has been roped in for this film. The film will mark Sivan’s reunion with Rajinikanth after Mani Ratnam’s Thalapathi. Anirudh Ravichander has been signed to compose music with lyricist Vivek penning the lyrics. This will be his second successive film with Rajinikanth after Petta. Leading stunt director duo – Ram and Lakshman – to choreograph the action sections and A Sreekar Prasad for editing.  

The film was originally supposed to be bankrolled by Sun Pictures, who backed out after the recent Sarkar controversy. Lyca Productions, the makers of 2.0, took over the reins of the project and are going all out to make this a lavish project. This would be the third outing for Lyca Productions with Rajinikanth after Kaala was distributed and magnum opus 2.0 was produced.

Meanwhile, Superstar is set to collaborate for his next with director Siva. Currently dubbed as Thalaivar 168 the shooting of the film is set to begin soon which will be bankrolled by Sun Pictures. It was announced recently that D Imman has been roped in as the composer.
