
Actor – cricketer Rajeev Pillai, known for his muscular physique shot to the limelight for his stint in the Celebrity Cricket League.
Having made his acting debut with the Malayalam film City of God in 2011, he went on to act in Veendum Kannur, D Company, Bhaskar The Rascal and Oru Muthassi Gadha in Malayalam, in Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal and Guru Dakshina in Hindi and in Thalaivaa and Eli in Tamil.
Happy with the way his career is shaping up, the actor now has Ankarajyathe Jimmanmar in his kitty which is directed by Praveen Narayanan.
Talking about this film, he is reported to have said that after City of God and Oru Muthassi Gadha it is Ankarajyathe Jimmanmar that has given him adequate scope to showcase his acting skills.
In the movie, Rajeev Pillai plays the role of Jimman, a gym freak. The actor has said that his sense of humour and timing were the reasons that helped him land the role, adding that those on the sets had a good laugh on a couple of occasions when he played out some scenes.
He has been quoted by the Deccan Chronicle as saying: “Yes, I play the role of a gym freak Jimmy, lovingly called Jimman, surviving in the city with occasional modeling stints and an interest in movies. What is special about the role is that the director recognised that I had a comic timing which he could use for the role. Praveen gave me space and freedom to showcase the comic persona in me, for which I am very thankful.”
Music Director Girish Narayanan has composed music for this flick with Mathew bankrolling it. The star cast also includes Sudev Nair and Roopesh Peetarmbaran.
