The Oscar winning music director, A R Rahman has confirmed that he had begun composing tunes for the untitled Vijay starrer. To be directed by A R Murugadoss, the film is in the pre-production stage with the director assembling his cast and crew.

In the meantime, A R Rahman has begun composing the tunes and has reportedly roped in singer Bamba Bakya to croon for a song. It may be mentioned here that the singer had sung a song in the Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 album and it is expected to be released soon.

Vijay’s last release was Mersal and interestingly, A R Rahman had composed the music for this flick as well. Both the music director and the star are associating for the second time in a row which has upped the expectations for this album.

While there were a lot of expectations that Vijay would render a song for the Mersal album, he did not. Being an accomplished singer himself, it needs to be seen if Vijay’s vocals would be used for one of the songs in the upcoming album.

The producers of the film, Sun Pictures had tweeted earlier, “Sun Pictures is happy to announce that A.R.Rahman will be the Music Director for the upcoming Thalapathy Vijay’s Movie. Heroine will be Keerthy Suresh, Cameraman – Girish Gangatharan and Editor – Sreekar Prasad.#Vijay62WithSunPictures.”

Vijay, who is on a vacation with family in China, is expected to return back to the city on January 13th. According to sources, the star will join the sets of the untitled film soon after the Pongal holidays.

Mersal, Vijay’s last outing which released for Diwali, was one of the biggest commercial hits. Made on a budget of Rs. 120 crores, the film collected Rs. 250 crores at the box office worldwide.
