The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday announced that it will re-conduct examination of Maths and Economics papers for Class X and Class XII respectively following leakage of question papers.
"With a view to uphold the sanctity of Board Examinations and in the interest of fairness to the students, the Board has decided to re-conduct the examination," said a CBSE statement.
The dates for the fresh examinations and other details will be hosted on the CBSE website within a week.
The CBSE Class XII Economics examination was held on Monday and the Class X Maths examination on Wednesday.
On Monday, when some teachers of private schools found the questionnaire of Class XII Economics paper to be same as a handwritten note which was being circulated over messaging service app over the past few days.
However, the CBSE had reportedly denied reports of the leak then. "We have checked with all examination centres and the paper was not leaked. The source of the circulation of this information is not known yet. We want to urge the students and parents to not panic and assure them that the board is doing its best to ensure sanctity of the examination," a senior CBSE official told PTI.
Earlier, on March 15, there were reports of Class 12 Accountancy paper being leaked, but the board had issued a statement denying this. People are expressing their disappointment with the Board and asking why should students who studied hard and wrote the exam be made to suffer.
Why should children pay the price for incompetence of cbse ? CBSE has so much to answer ... absolutely unfair— pallavi ghosh (@_pallavighosh) March 28, 2018
Lakhs of students suffering because of the incompetence of #CBSE is just unacceptable and so damn unfair on the kids. If heads don't roll for this, then God save us! #Maths #Economics— Zakka Jacob (@Zakka_Jacob) March 28, 2018
So class ten CBSE maths paper leaked, exam to be re-held. Feel sorry for the kids. Guess when there is ball tampering in cricket, can exam tampering be far behind? Sad.— Rajdeep Sardesai (@sardesairajdeep) March 28, 2018
My son Aujaswi studied really hard for #CBSE Class X Board Math Exams held today— Ajay Maken (@ajaymaken) March 28, 2018
His joy of finishing Board Exams was short lived.
He is extremely dejected as the Math paper got leaked& this #LeakingGovt will hold the Exam again
I feel sorry for him as lakhs of other students!
CBSE paper leak is a huge shame; imagine stressed students have to take the same exams again for no fault of theirs! Will accountability be fixed for paper leak ?— Rupashree Nanda (@rupashreenanda) March 28, 2018
But who will take responsibility from the #CBSE team for the leak? How is this justifiable for the students who didn't leak the paper? Why was the action not taken if the cbse people knew that the paper was leaked? Why the wait? Why the denial?— Muskaan Gupta (@imuskaang) March 28, 2018
Unbelievable! Students have to pay the price for CBSE's incompetence. All their hard work washed away as Class 10 Math and Class 12 Economics papers now need to be re-taken because of a leak #CBSERetest— Arunoday Mukharji (@ArunodayM) March 28, 2018
